  3. 3. Select your courses carefully.College admission requirements usually include a specific number of college- preparatory courses. Make sure that the courses you are taking have high academic content and include English, a foreign language, mathematics, science, social studies.

Things to know and ask when talking with admissions:• What is my class rank?• What is my GPA?• What are my SAT/ACT scores?• Do I have Life or Palmetto yet?• What type of classes have I been taking?• How many credits of foreign language do I need for admission to your college?• What % of your students receive a bachelor’s degree at the end of 4 years?

Compare and contrast the schools that you are visiting.• What size campus do I feel comfortable with?• Where can we afford?• For the money, where is the best buy?• Which colleges are “reach”, “fit”, and “give me?”• Does my favorite school even offer my major or degree that I am interested in?• May I drive and park on campus?• Where is the college located?
