  1. 1. STOCKHOLM RESEARCH History of the Skyscraper A skyscraper is an building that is at least 20 stories high. The highest build- ing in the world is the CN tower in Toronto, Canada. It is 1815 ft tall. The taller the building is, the thicker the walls have to be in order to support the structure of the building . The invention of steel frame construc- tion eliminated the need for the thick walls in most cases the combination of concrete and a steel skeleton creates a strong structure load that supports the weight of the building. The load of wind is the most important element that affects the structure of a skyscraper. The center of the building is the main weight load of a building. This kind of structure is open to add eleva- tors. www.allaboutskyscraper.com.constructio n 5HELIXXILEH DESIGN INC
