Poverty Alleviation via Microfinance <ul><li>500 RMB </li></ul><ul><ul><li>In 1993, the founders of Fuping, prominent economists Prof. Yushi Mao & Dr. Min Tang experimented microfinance with 500 RMB in the Luliang mountains region of Shanxi province. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>5 Million RMB </li></ul><ul><ul><li>In 2007, the microfinance project has already loaned 5 million RMB in total with a repayment rate of 97%, benefitting around 4,000 farmers from nearly 1,000 rural families. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>UN China Microfinance Award </li></ul><ul><ul><li>In 2005 the project was awarded the United Nations Chinese microfinance award, presented personally by the former president of the World Bank Mr. James Wolfensohn. </li></ul></ul>2008-7
