CONTEXT <ul><li>NZ is a highly socially innovative country, with a range of vehicles to support innovation starting to be developed </li></ul><ul><li>Our key challenges are around </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Prioritising and focusing innovation </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Moving beyond pilots to sustainability & scale </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Learning and reflection around substance and process </li></ul></ul><ul><li>As yet, there is no shared framework and language around social innovation, and little sharing of knowledge </li></ul>

A NEW ZEALAND SOCIAL INNOVATION “CATALYST” <ul><li>To support and stimulate social innovation in NZ by </li></ul><ul><li>Creating a platform for individuals & organisations to share, learn & collaborate ( platform role ) </li></ul><ul><li>Developing & promoting, in conjunction with others, new vehicles & mechanisms to support innovation ( development role ) </li></ul>That NZ is a country which consistently creates and grows new solutions to its most pressing social needs , drawing on the resources of all its people Mission Vision

INITIAL PROJECTS <ul><li>“ Accelerating Social Innovation in NZ” – 2 day conference in early-mid 2009 </li></ul><ul><li>“ A Social Innovation Framework” – a practical handbook for social entrepreneurs, funders and supporters </li></ul><ul><li>Website providing tools for exchange, sharing and learning (eg forums, directories, classifieds, event lists, links) – co-developed with ASIX, linked to SIX </li></ul><ul><li>Incubator project </li></ul><ul><li>Workshops/ seminars – co-hosted with ASIX </li></ul>
