  • is the batch class 022 or 023, in your slide it says batch has the class type of 022, but as my knowledge it is 023 is for the batch

Variant confg

  1. 1. Variant ConfigurationWhat is Variant Configuration? It is a tool which helps to simplify thecomplex manufacturing of final productwith more varieties and Variation of the input material.e.g. Automobile manufacturing Furniture manufacturingVisit www.sap-topjobs.com for more info
  2. 2. Variant Configuration..contdVariant configuration helps To ensure right choice is delivered Easy for the sales person to select Communication is fast and clear Ensures production of right item
  3. 3. Variant Configuration-super BOMSuper BOM:-containing all the components for producingall variants of the product.Advantage:- No need to create a separate BOM One configurable material to cover variants.
  4. 4. Variant Configuration-super RoutingSuper Routing:-containing all the operations for producingall variants of the product.Advantage:- No need to create a separate Routing One configurable material to cover variants.
  5. 5. Configurable Material - BOMconfigurable material BOM contains all thecomponents that are required to manufacture the material. The BOM contains components that areonly used in specific variants (variant parts), as well as components that are used in allvariants (non-variable parts)
  6. 6. Configurable Material - RoutingA routing (or task list) for a configurablematerial contains all the operations, operation sequences, and productionresources/tools (PRTs) that are required to manufacture all variants of a configurablematerial
  7. 7. Variant Configuration-ClassTo define the features of a configurablematerial, use characteristics. Toenable to use characteristics to configure amaterial, assign the material to a class ofclass type 300. The customer can choosefrom among different options for eachcharacteristic (values).
  8. 8. Classification & CharacteristicVarious characteristics of the material can beDefined and these characteristics are attachedTo the class. Class is attached to theMaterial master.e.g Variant class – class type 300 Batch class -- class type 022
  9. 9. Item selection from super BOM•Enter the variant part as a BOM item and assign object dependency to it.•Classify the variant part in a class and enter the class as a class item in the BOM.•Use the classification data of a material as a selection condition.
  10. 10. Object DependencySelection of item, Restricting the selection &changing the quantity of an item in theBOM are done through Object dependenciesselect condition, Precondition andProcedure respectively
  11. 11. Select ConditionSuper BOM contains all the required andVariable items. From the variable itemsrequired items will be selected which areMatching the characteristic value.
  12. 12. Select Condition e.g.Items in the super BOM are :1. 70hp engine2. 85hp engine3. 95hp engineCharacteristic: PowerChar.Values: 70hp,85hp & 95hpselect Condition : power = ’70’Result:- item 70hp engine will be selected.
  13. 13. Pre Condition e.g.Items in super BOM related to emission are :1. DPCpump2. DPAMpump3. HYDpumpCharacteristic1: Engine_PowerCharacteristic2: Emission_levelChar.2 Values : euro1,euro2 & euro3Constrains:-70hp can go with euro1 only;85hp can go with all euro1,euro2 and euro3;95hp can go with euro3 only.
  14. 14. Procedure e.g.If there is a change in quantity depends on anyCharacteristic value, then Procedure is used.i.e Depends on number of wheel character, item‘Fastner’ required quantity per engine may be8 times the number of wheel. If no of wheel is 4 then fastner qty should be 32Per product.
  15. 15. Creating Sales OrderWhen creating a sales order & enter theconfigurable material as an order item.see the configuration editor, where assignvalues to the characteristics of the material.when entering characteristic values, dependencies for the characteristics andvalues are processed.
  16. 16. Class item in super BOMAnother way to simplify the BOM creationProcess is through class item in the BOM
  17. 17. Creation of classCharacteristics are created and attached withClass of class type 300(variant class).Class will be assigned to the material masterWith characteristic valuesEnter this class as a class item (K) in the BOM
  18. 18. Link between class, item & BOMLink is established as class attached to thematerial master and the same class is enteredAs class item (K) in the BOM.
  19. 19. Item selection via class itemWhen the particular class is assigned to theMaterial master and the same class isEntered as a class item in the BOM, whileCreating the sales order
  20. 20. Control on class and characteristicsClasses can be created through Engineering ChangeManagement so that the better control can beImparted to it.Changes to the characteristic & its effective fromdates can be triggered through Engineering changeManagement.
  21. 21. Variant Configuration - PricingYou can make the price of a variantdependent on the characteristic valuesassigned (Pricing). You can usevariant conditions to define surchargesand discounts for a variant
  22. 22. Variant – Pricing stepsCreate condition recordcreate a procedure where you enter thereference from the characteristicAssign the procedures to either thecharacteristic valuesconfigure the material in the sales orderThe net price for the material is displayed
  23. 23. Pricing steps - processIf a value that triggers a variant condition isselected when configuring a material in asales order, the price of the materialdisplayed under Net value is automaticallyincreased or reduced. In addition, the Conditions pushbutton isdisplayed. On pressing this pushbutton,One can see which conditions haveinfluenced the price.
  24. 24. Making variant make to stockFor variants that are required frequently, you can create material variants, whichcan be produced without a sales orderand kept in stock. When you receive asales order, you can check whether thevariant required is in stock, so that you candeliver immediately.
  25. 25. Variant matching in the SOIf material variants already exist for aconfigurable material, the configurablematerial can be replaced in the sales orderby a material variant.Material variants that only partly match theconfiguration of the material in thesales order are ignoredNote:-The configuration of the material mustmatch the material variant Exactly
  26. 26. Simulating configurationconfiguration simulation to checkconfiguration model. In the configuration simulation, one can testwhether it has created the objectscorrectly and whether dependencies work.
  27. 27. Simulating costingUse the configuration simulation functionalityto determine the costs for manufacturing aspecific variant of the configurable material. Please note that this configuration is only asimulation – the costing data for a variant isnot saved.use the function to simulate the costing fordifferent characteristic values
  28. 28. Material AccountingRelevant items are selected from theSuper BOM through object dependency. The selected items form the BOM specific toSO.Items are copied to Plnd.order,prod.orderAnd issued against the production order.
