  • Is it this confusing for everyone? Ya, I think it is! Facebook for business can be a daunting task especially if you have a personal account and are also the one responsible for the corporate image.Suddenly a platform you may very well thrive on socially – becomes this daunting world you can’t seem to make do what you see everyone else doing!
  • So here’s the thing – most of us are fans of at least one business page – a client’s, a vendor we frequent, a resource we rely on – and they have nifty things on their Facebook business page that we want our page… (click)Today we’re going to count down the list of tips and tricks that remedy the top 5 Facebook for business frustrations:How to leverage banners in your Facebook marketing strategy? How to ensure your Facebooking as the company not as you?How to navigate tools as an administrator? How to secure a shortened url?How to tag in posts – not pictures – posts?
  • Number 5: BannersMost everyone knows how to set their profile picture in Facebook. There is a huge opportunity here for business to leverage the entire 180 x 540 pixel space. Here we have 3 examples:CheetahDeals is using it as a billboard advertising their core offerings,Zappos is using it as an engagement tool – encouraging fans to post pics of themselves enjoying the products and then rewarding the community with a “fan of the week” shout out.Social Media Examiner uses their space to promote events and available white papers to bring value as a resource to their community. One thing to note when creating these images (click) is you’ll want to be sure and design them in such a way that a segment can be cropped into the desired avatar that will appear when you post. As seen here in the Social Media Examiner example.
  • Number 4:How to set your corporate page as your profile:(play video)You must be an administrator on the company page – which I am.I login to Facebook as myself.I navigate to my company page. Then, I click on the Admin tool that reads “Use Facebook as Site-Seeker”A dialogue box then pops up verifying that I will now be posting and interacting on Facebook as Site-Seeker.
  • Number 3: Engage your community.(play video)So here I’m on the Site-Seeker site as myself.Because I’m an admin I can…Edit PageSwitch to using Facebook as Site-SeekerView notifications of people interacting with usView InsightsInvite friendsAs an administrator you can invite Facebook fans from your personal community to engage on your professional page. Keeping in mind that we always want to respect our communities that we’ve built both personally and professionally look to invite those who may truly find real value in your company page’s content.
  • Number 2: The ShortenedurlOnce you have at least 25 fans or “likes” you can claim a shortened url.A great way to consistently brand all of you media - a shortened url allow you to promote and socialize your Facebook page easier… instead of saying “like us at Facebook.com/9872thkle9t0uio-90 you can say like us at Facebook.com/siteseekerincWord of caution: you can never go back so choose your name wisely!
  • (play video)Using Facebook as Site-SeekerI choose Edit PageResources from the left navigationUnder “Connect With People” choose Select a UsernameNotice I’m prompted to proceed as myself – Brian, click to continue as yourselfFrom the drop down choose the site you wish to select a username for,Enter the desired username (use your mouse to show the field)Check for availability (use your mouse to show the field)Again…you can never go back so choose your name wisely!Fun Fact… you could do this for your personal page as well!
  • Number 1: Comment tagging is a great way to broaden your reach and engage with other communities. This is not about pictures this is about tagging in posts. So you come across a great article that you think is relevant to your Facebook community and you’d like to share it…Note what the article is about – this one is about CNET, Google Chrome and AndroidBe sure you’re Using Facebook as Your CompanySearch for the business pages of the companies noted in the blog postLike the pages.Return to your profile pageChoose Link from the Share options on your page.Paste the link of the blog article you wish to share and click Attach. Now compose your comment tagging the Companies you’re referencing with an “@” symbol.Click ShareNotice the tagged companies are hyperlinked to the corresponding Facebook pages where your post now appears in their stream!Of course, be sure to go back and “Like” it on your page!
  • This is today’s secret word…this is the button you’ll see on our website to enter the word – we’ll send you the link to enter to win after the webinar!Everyone got it??
  • So the how-to’s are super important but how do you make your organization’s Facebook page reallywork for you?As with all other business initiatives you need a strategy – a great strategy starts with clear objectives. So what objectives do you have for your Facebook page? (click)Why does your organization have or want a Facebook page?Who is your organization’s audience? Are they on Facebook? What type of conversation would engage said audience? What will be the tone of you Facebook page?SalesResourcesFunAll of the above? How will you measure Facebook success? Likes, engagement, leads? How will you engage to reach the measurement goals?
  • We want you – he looks a little intimidating (click) that’s better! We know what we want!
