    12. What do they need to supply the ships? Food Clothing Weapons, ammunition, bathing supplies (soap)
    13. Trade and Port Cities In these cities, you would dock your boat and trade your belongings for new belongings, get your clothes patched or purchase new things. Everything was within walking distance to the harbor. Portsmouth was a port city!! Some cities specialized in one or two items (candles and ironworks)

    16. Church Town Halls In the New England communities, if you did not belong to the village church, you were excluded from town meetings and votes. Many times the leader of the church led the village.
    17. Mid Atlantic Geography and Climate
      • Appalachian Mountains
      • Coastal Lowlands—great for harbors bays, wide and deep rivers)
      • Rich farm lands
      • Moderate climate
    18. The Appalachian Mountains in the Mid Atlantic Colonies are farther west of the coast, allowing for farming and less rocky soil.
    19. Broad rivers allowed ships to travel west/inland.
