  13. 13. Offshore Wind Infrastructure Application lab  OWI-Project initiated by Generaties  Budget: €5,5M (€4,8M flemish gov funded)  Partners:#OWI_lab
  14. 14. Offshore Wind Infrastructure Application lab OBJECTIVES/SCOPE: 1. Invest in state-of-the-art test, and monitoring hardware & software (=start up R&D infrastructure) (Local companies lack access to test infrastructure and datasets to support and accelerate their innovation process) 2. Cluster academic wind energy research projects (Maximize the potential covered by local academia)#OWI_lab
  15. 15. Offshore Wind Infrastructure Application lab OBJECTIVES/SCOPE: 3. Cluster local wind energy players (whole value chain) (Promoting & unlocking the clustering potential of local players  need of a ecosystem) 4. Start-up new innovation projects: FP7, SBO, O&O, Commercial,… (comprising the whole value chain) (to meet the challenges of the industry: reliability & cost effectiveness)#OWI_lab

  20. 20. Large cold climate chamber  Unique test infrastructure in EU !  Focus: accelerated lifetime testing /cold starts  Max dimensions test object : 10m x 8m x 7m  Max weight test object: 150 tons  Temperature range: -60°C  +60°C  Integrated 1,4 MW drive & high power supply  Location: Port of Antwerp (Churchill dock: breakbulk terminal)#OWI_lab
  21. 21. Automotive sector  role model for wind energy sector We invite you to the opening of the climate chamber in September 2012#OWI_lab
  22. 22. #OWI_lab
  23. 23. At this moment Belwind already cooperates with OWI for astructural health monitoring measurement campaign, with veryinteresting results. It is inspiring to see how all involved partnerscan benefit from such knowledge build-up: Belwind and theirsuppliers to learn about the behavior and performance of their windturbines, OWI in the fact that they get access to a real offshore windfarm environment. Frank Coenen, CEO Belwind#OWI_lab
  24. 24. #OWI_lab
  25. 25. OWI-Lab offering  Access to test and monitoring infrastructure available to local and European companies.  Set-up and enable R&D projects  Dedicated innovation projects  Shared R&D#OWI_lab
