Top 10 Albums 1981 Baby Boomers - Presentation Transcript

    1. Top 10 Albums 1981
    2. Tattoo You is an album by The Rolling Stones, released in 1981. The follow-up to Emotional Rescue, it proved to be a big critical and commercial success upon its release and is still celebrated as one of The Rolling Stones' finest full-length releases, despite its prolonged recording history. Ghost in the Machine is the fourth album by The Police, released in 1981. Much of the material in this album was inspired by Arthur Koestler's The Ghost in the Machine, which also donated the title.
    3. Face Value is the title of Phil Collins' debut solo album, released in February 1981. The album includes one of Collins' biggest, and perhaps most enduring hits, "In the Air Tonight". The Human Machine - Dare!
    4. Hi Infidelity is the ninth studio album by REO Speedwagon, released in 1980 (see 1980 in music). It went on to become the biggest selling rock LP of 1981, eventually selling over nine million. Six songs from this album hit Billboard charts , including "Keep On Loving You" which was the band's first Number 1 hit. For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) is the eighth album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC, released in 1981. The album was a follow-up to their highly successful album Back in Black. For Those About to Rock has sold over 4 million copies in the US. It was AC/DC's first and only No. 1 album in the USA until the release of Black Ice in October 2008. In their original 1981 review, Rolling Stone magazine declared it to be their best album.
    5. Bella Donna is the debut solo album by American singer/songwriter and Fleetwood Mac vocalist Stevie Nicks. Released in July 1981, the album hit #1 on the U.S. Billboard charts in September of that year, remaining there for one week. Bella Donna was awarded Platinum status by the RIAA three months after its release on October 7, 1981, and has sold over 4 million copies in the U.S. and remains her best-selling solo album to date worldwide. Time is a concept album by Electric Light Orchestra released in 1981.
    6. The Visitors is the eighth and final studio album by Swedish pop group ABBA, released in 1981. With The Visitors, ABBA took several steps away from the "lighter" pop music they had recorded previously and the album is often regarded as a more complex and mature effort. Paradise Theatre is a concept album released by the rock band Styx in January 1981. The signature song, "The Best of Times" (written by group leader Dennis DeYoung), went all the way to #3 and "Too Much Time on My Hands" written by Tommy Shaw went to #9 (and was Shaw's only top 10 hit for Styx). Rockin' The Paradise went to #8 on the Top Rock Track Chart.
