    1. Kind of Blue is a studio album by American jazz musician Miles Davis, released August 17, 1959 on Columbia Records. It has been regarded by many critics as the greatest jazz album of all time and Davis's masterpiece, and it has been ranked at or near the top of several "best album" lists in disparate genres. Time Out is a 1959 album by The Dave Brubeck Quartet, based upon the use of time signatures that were unusual for jazz. Iit became one of the best-known and biggest-selling jazz albums, reaching number two in the U.S. Billboard "Pop Albums" chart, and produced one single Paul Desmond's "Take Five" that reached number five in the Billboard "Adult Contemporary" chart.
    2. Come Dance with Me! is an album by the American singer Frank Sinatra, released in 1959. It was the most successful album of Frank Sinatra's career, spending two and a half years on the Billboard charts. The Genius of Ray Charles is a 1959 album by Ray Charles. In 2003, the album was ranked number 263 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
    3. Belafonte at Carnegie Hall is a live album by Harry Belafonte. It is the first of two Belafonte Carnegie Hall albums, and was recorded on April 19 and April 20, 1959. The stereo version of the album was released on the prestigious RCA Victor "Living Stereo" series. Porgy and Bess is a studio album by jazz musician Miles Davis, released in 1958 on Columbia Records. The album features arrangements by Davis and collaborator Gil Evans from George Gershwin's opera Porgy and Bess. For many jazz critics, Porgy and Bess is regarded as historic.

Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music is a 1965 musical film directed by Robert Wise and starring Julie Andrews in the lead role.
    5. Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs is an album released by Marty Robbins on the Columbia Records label in September 1959, peaking at #6 on the U.S. pop albums chart. The Cannonball Adderley Quintet in San Francisco is a 1959 album by jazz band The Cannonball Adderley Quintet. The groundbreaking album launched "soul jazz", according to NPR bridging "the gap between bebop and funk".
