  • 2. CARDIOLOGY NATIONAL INTERVIEW DAY INTRODUCTION: Please find attached (page 1) a list of the universities participating in the National Interview Day. The Interview Day is organized through the office of Dr. L. Welikovitch, Program Director, University of Calgary. National Interview Day takes place in Toronto in September. This allows program directors and applicants an opportunity to meet on a single day in one location. Programs will adhere to the guidelines of the R4 Subspecialty Match, agreed to by Canadian Association of Professors of Medicine, the Canadian Association of Internal Medicine Program Directors, the Canadian Associate Deans (Postgraduate Education) and the Canadian Association of Interns and Residents. The training programs which participate function autonomously, but cooperate in procedures related to trainee selection. This system is intended to facilitate the interview process for both the candidates and the programs. Candidates who wish to arrange on – site interviews are advised to contact individual program directors. IMPORTANT APPLICATION DEADLINES: Application packages and program information are available from individual programs. Each resident may apply to as many programs as he/she chooses. Candidates must return all completed application materials to individual program offices, and the completed Interview Request form (attached) to Cathy Neufeld no later than Tuesday August 1, 2006. Each program will review applicants’ files and select those candidates to whom an interview will be offered. Each program director will forward to Dr. Welikovitch’s office, the list of candidates for whom interviews should be organized. This list will be submitted no later than Tuesday September 5, 2006. INTERVIEW INFORMATION: National Interview Day will take place on September 28 and 29, 2006 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Toronto. The majority of interviews will take place on Friday the 29th. Some centers will also interview on Thursday the 28th in order to accommodate all applicants. Only local applicants ( i.e. those from the Toronto area, or other nearby Ontario centers) will be asked to interview on both the 28th and 29th, in order to minimize disruption to those traveling from other parts of Canada. Each interview will last 30 minutes. Applicants will be notified of the time of their first interview by telephone/fax/ email by September 19 2006. The complete interview schedule will be provided to applicants at the time of check in to the hotel on either September 28 or 29. 2
