NH Hospitals Working Together <ul><li>New Hampshire Hospital Association worked with the Mississippi Hospital Association to identify a MS hospital that was devastated by the hurricane. </li></ul><ul><li>Hancock Medical Center was immediately identified. </li></ul><ul><li>The NHHA board voted on September 18 th to adopt Hancock. </li></ul>

Hancock Medical Center – After Hurricane Katrina <ul><li>Hancock Medical Center went through the eye of the hurricane. </li></ul><ul><li>70% of the 525 employees lost their homes. </li></ul><ul><li>Many of the 100+ physicians also lost their homes. </li></ul><ul><li>The entire first floor of the hospital was flooded by 3 feet of water. </li></ul><ul><li>A reconstruction team has gutted the first floor – you can see right through the hospital. </li></ul>

Hancock Medical Center – After Hurricane Katrina <ul><li>According to the Hancock Medical Center contact, employees are reporting to work and are committed to rebuilding the hospital. </li></ul><ul><li>Hancock’s web site ( www.hmc.org ) states they hope to re-open their Emergency Department by the end of September. </li></ul><ul><li>A Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) has been operating outside the hospital to provide medical resources to the community. </li></ul>

Partnership for Hancock Relief <ul><li>The “Partnership for Hancock Relief” fund has been established and is being coordinated by NHHA through the Foundation for Healthy Communities. </li></ul><ul><li>The NHHA Board pledged $10,000 to start the fund. Our goal is to reach $250,000. </li></ul><ul><li>100% of all tax deductible donations will be used for direct relief for employees who suffered personal losses. </li></ul>

Partnership for Hancock Relief <ul><li>Hancock Medical Center’s immediate need is to help its employees and physicians get re-established. </li></ul><ul><li>This will be a long-term effort. </li></ul><ul><li>We will continue to work with Hancock to identify other employee and facility needs as they get back on their feet. </li></ul>
