CoPS fellowship application process <ul><li>Task Force Recommendations: </li></ul><ul><li>In order to simplify the process for the applicants, we would recommend that all Pediatric Subspecialties utilize ERAS: </li></ul><ul><li>In order to allow flexibility for subspecialties and enhance fairness to the applicants, we recommend utilizing a match, but suggest two match dates from which subspecialties could choose. These dates would be in the late spring and late fall. </li></ul>

Benefits of a match <ul><li>Allows applicants and programs to consider all options before making decisions </li></ul><ul><li>Creates an impartial venue for matching programs’ and applicants’ preferences </li></ul><ul><li>Establishes a uniform date for appointment </li></ul><ul><li>Produces a “stable marriage” </li></ul>

NRMP Match Commitment <ul><li>“ The listing of an applicant by a program on its certified rank order list or of a program by an applicant on the applicant’s certified rank order list establishes a binding commitment to offer or to accept an appointment if a match results. </li></ul><ul><li>Failure to honor this commitment by either party will be a material breach of this Agreement an may result in penalties to the breaching program or applicant …” </li></ul>

NRMP – Participation Criteria <ul><li>Programs must meet one of the following criteria: </li></ul><ul><li>Accredited by the ACGME </li></ul><ul><li>Affiliated with an ACGME-accredited program in the core discipline </li></ul><ul><li>Lead to specialty certification or oversight by an ABMS recognized certifying board </li></ul>

NRMP – Fellowship Sponsor Agreement <ul><li>At least 75% of programs with available positions will be registered in the match </li></ul><ul><li>These programs will actively participate by submitting rank order lists </li></ul><ul><li>At least 75% of the available positions within the subspecialty will be in the match </li></ul>
