  • 1. Ancient Egypt By Lissa
  • 2. My name in Hieroglyphics
  • 3. Geography - topography
    • They had large flat places which was good for farming.It has rich soil in some parts but the rest was desert. The main deserts are the Libyan,Arabian,and the Nubian deserts.The deserts protect the people because the invaders don’t want to go through the desert to attack the Egyptians.The Nile Valley was also a good place for farming because it had fertilizer and irrigation on its own.
  • 4. Pharaohs
    • Ruled during the middle kingdom. The middle kingdom lasted from 1971-1926 b.c.e. his reign was flourished with art. Senusret controlled mines with gold and more. There was one famous story called The Story of Shinuhe. Senusret built temples shrines and monuments. One if his famous monuments was the white chapel.later after senusret died the next pharaoh took the white chapel down. Then another famous pharaoh was very important for one reason. Her name was Hatshepsut. She was the first female pharaoh this was probably her greatest achievement too. Her reign was also flourished by art .
  • 5. Life in Ancient Egypt
    • There was many people in ancient Egypt. Each year when the Nile river flooded they would have an Opet festival. That’s when they celebrate the god Amon-Re. Then all the people take off work too. They have all kinds of decoration for the festival. Even though they all spend the day together they have a social pyramid. The pharaoh is at the top and the peasents are at the bottom. There are 6 different kinds of people first it’s the pharaoh after him it’s the government then it’s the priests then it’s the scribes then the artisans and finally the peasents. In all of the groups they charish family and they are really big on kids. Women and men were almost equal.the government was very important. The 3 important jobs were vizier the chief treasurer and the general of the armies.
  • 6. Geography - Vegetation
    • The rain water and lakes and the Nile were the main things that helped vegetation grow.There are all different kinds of food and some can be used for medication and tools. One example of a tool plant is a tough water plant called papyrus.
  • 7. Geography-water
    • The Nile river was where Egyptians got most of there water. It was safe for drinking and washing clothes or food. It was good for keeping crops healthy too. People had transportation on the Nile and a good supply of food like fish and water birds hippos and some where on land like giraffes.
  • 8. Pyramids
    • The pyramids were used for pharaohs tombs. The largest pyramid in the world is the Great pyramid of Giza . The great pyramid was built by Khufu. Pyramids had hidden trap doors to keep the pharaohs safe. Piles of stone were about 50 feet high. It took about 20 years to build a pyramid and Egypt has way over 80 pyramids.
