    • AIMS:
    • ‘Understand, analyse and evaluate non-fiction print text which conveys complex information.’ (Close Reading)
    • ‘Compose a piece of writing in a particular genre.’ (Creative Writing)
  • 4. NABS
    • CLOSE READING:
    • - Understanding
    • - Analysis
    • - Evaluation
    • Out of 30 marks
    • PASS/FAIL (50% cut-off)
    • TWO chances to pass.

    • WRITING: (one of the following)
    • - Group A: Expressive
    • (Personal, Persuasive, Argumentative)
    • - Group B: Creative
    • (Prose, Poem, Drama Script)
    • - Group C: Report
    • (For a specified purpose, e.g. ‘environment’)
    • You have the opportunity to REDRAFT ONCE.
  • 6. Literary Study
    • AIMS:
    • ‘Provide the skills and concepts required for reading literary texts of quality and responding critically.’ (Textual Analysis)
  • 7. NAB
    • TEXTUAL ANALYSIS:
    • - Similar approach to Close Reading.
    • - Focuses on Literature or Personal writing rather than Non-Fiction.
    • Out of 30 marks
    • PASS/FAIL (50% cut-off)
    • TWO chances to pass.
  • 8. Personal Study

  • 9. External Examination
    • CLOSE READING:
    • It lasts 1 hour.
    • It makes up 50% of your grade.
    • CRITICAL ESSAY:
    • It lasts 1&1/2 hours.
    • You will be asked to answer TWO questions on texts you have studied.
    • They are worth 25 marks each.
    • This makes up the other 50% of your grade.

    • THE EXAM IS YOUR WHOLE GRADE.
