  • 2. Physical Physical Properties • Can be determined without altering the chemical makeup of the material. Physical Change • Identity of the substance remains the same. – Change from solid-liquid-gas. – Heating or cooling. – Altering shape. – Dissolving. – Can get original chemical back.
  • 3. Chemical Chemical Properties • Relate to the tendency of the substance to undergo a chemical change. Chemical Change • Substance is transformed into something new. – Burning. – Cooking. – Can not get original chemical back.
  • 4. Periodic Table Broken down into 3 sections – metals, nonmetals, and metalloids
  • 5. Metals – Malleable – Shiny – Conduct Electricity – Reacts with acid
  • 6. Nonmetals – Brittle – Dull – Do not Conduct Electricity – Does not react with acid
  • 7. Metalloids • Possesses characteristics of metals and nonmetals.
