    Blasphemy Blasphemy Presentation Transcript

    • Blasphemy By Sikander Kamran Student of Software Engineering Comsats Institute of Information and Technology
    • Introduction Blasphemy is derived from two roots Blapto means to injure and pheme means to speak which altogether means injurious speech. Blasphemy is the act of insulting or showing contempt for a religious deity or Holy persons or things.
    • If blasphemy is horrible sin then can one obtain forgiveness for it ??
    • Blasphemy Laws Different countries and religions have different laws to punish blasphemy which discourages blasphemy
    • Blasphemy in Islam Every true Muslim loves and regards Islam and Holy Prophet (S.A.W) more than any other thing. So he can tolerate insults against anything else but not against their God, Islam or Holy Prophet. Many Muslims think that death or harsh measures are the only possible punishments for those who commit blasphemy. However Islam teaches us fair treatment for all including enemies.

    • Blasphemy againstHoly Prophet: Even Holy Prophet (S.A.W) also forgave his worst enemies who used to revile Islam. Disbelievers did not only mocked Holy Prophet (S.A.W) but also they insulted the Holy Quran by calling it a book of “confused dreams”. But God advised him to stay patient as he said: “Follow not the disbelievers and leave alone their annoyance and put the trust in Allah for Allah is sufficient guardian ”
    • Blasphemy Rules in PakistanThe holy Quran clearly does not order the death sentence for those who commit blasphemy.For this purpose, In Pakistan there are several in criminal code comprising blasphemy laws.
    • Cases of blasphemy in historyof Pakistan: Shahid Nadeem case,december 2011 Rimsha Masih case, august 2011 Asia bibi case, November 2010 Dr M Younus Sheikh case Dan Brown’s novel Da Vinci code was also considered blasphemous by Pakistani Muslims
    • Conclusion: In short we need to take some measures to stop Blasphemy against Islam but Islam itself teaches us to remain patient and never adopt extremism and always remain just..
