  • 2. Over the last two decades, the clienthas been a prominent dealer ofantiques and paintings and has alsobuilt an auctioning business thatgives buyers and sellers a very uniqueand vintage auctioning experience. The client wanted to extend thisexperience to a user friendly onlineportal that even the older generationand less tech savvy customers couldbenefit from. They also wanted toincrease their sales footprint bytargeting more users and including ahost of other items to be auctioned. However, they still wanted to retainthe exciting vintage auctioningexperience even on the portal. Theyapproached Sigma Infosolutions tobuild an online e-auction portal whichnot only enabled the client toconduct and manage a substantialn u m b e r o f l i v e a u c t i o n ssimultaneously, but also retained thecharisma of old fashioned auctions. The client is one of the prominent auctioneers based out of North America. With over two decades of experience in auctioning of antiques, Jewelry, andold paintings; this dealer of antiques and collectibles prides itself onproviding a very unique and exciting vintage auctioning experience. Theirauctioning portal is a comprehensive e-commerce portal with a LIVEauctioning engine which enables customers to participate in an auction orhost an auction for a variety of products while experiencing the thrill of oldfashioned auctions. The ClientExecutive SummaryThe client wanted to offer his customers an easy, interactive and transparentmethod to auction. The client also wanted to improve its sales footprint byincreasing the number of auctions. However, increasing the physical auctionhalls would have proved to be costly and difficult to manage. Also, auctionsneeded to be secure for both the auctioneer as well as the customer.Providing such facilities while increasing number of auctions was not possiblewithout large upfront investment on infrastructure, resources, andmarketing. The client approached Sigma Infosolutions to develop an e-auction portal that would cost effectively increase sales as well as givecustomers an easy and transparent way to auction while involving them witha unique live auctioning experience sitting at home.Business Casesales@sigmainfo.netChallengesThe client wanted the portal to retain the old fashioned charm of auctioning. This novel feature was not offered by existing auctioning portals.Understanding the intricacies of vintage auctioning that existed in the 1960sand 1970s and recreating the experience for LIVE auctions on a web platformwas a significant challenge. The site would need to be visually interactive and developing an image heavyportal that would deliver fast interactivity was a challenging task. Creatinglive auctions on a rich interface and updating its current status on the portalinstantaneously was a challenge. Another challenge was to keep thenavigation user friendly and intuitive since many of the users would not beinternet savvy and the user experience was top priority for the client.More than 30simultaneousauctionswith 50 bidderseach“
