Solution from Siemens Desigo CC was installed to control building automation, energy consumption and fire safety. Customer benefit Neither passengers nor tenants notice the clever and comprehensive system, but it has a tremendous impact on their level of comfort. Desigo CC not only controls the building climate, but also helps save costs by increasing energy efficiency. All the investments for the improvement measures needed to be paid from the energy savings. Solution from Siemens Energy Performance Contracting was signed directly with the University of Hong Kong. Several facility improvement measures were to be implemented to guarantee energy savings for eight years. Customer benefit After the energy improvement retrofit project, Hong Kong University benefited financially in operating cost reduction from the guaranteed energy savings for eight years. Solution from Siemens The building certification in Zug required detailed operational analysis, policy development, implementation of improvement measures and performance verification and evaluation. All aspects of green building operations were assessed in different categories. Customer benefit The building draws heat from a district heating network and has a lake water cooling system, which additionally qualifies as a renewable energy source. It controls and monitors all of the systems in the building including BT and third-party systems. Solution from Siemens The fire alarm system from Siemens consists of: 27 Nodes Siemens XLSV with a voice evacuation system as well as a fire fighter‘s telephone system with 12,010 devices in total. The fire alarm system has one mimic panel for the entire building and is fully interconnected with the building management system. Seite 23 CG BT Smart buildings in smart grids4 The Smart grid ensures the balance between generation and consumption and inte- grates renewable energy sources through a bidirec- tional energy and communi- cation flow. Smart grids smooth the way for mobility free of CO2, they ensure the integration of renewable energy sources (e.g. solar and wind energy) and create prerequisites for smart buildings that are able to produce and store electricity and feed it to the grid.
