Impact of Media On Children <ul><li>Television has the potential to generate both positive and negative effects. </li></ul><ul><li>Television can be a powerful teacher . </li></ul><ul><li>Public Television programs stimulate visits to the zoo, libraries, bookstores, museums and other active recreational settings. </li></ul><ul><li>Educational videos can certainly serve as powerful prosocial teaching devices. </li></ul><ul><li>Television is an effective way of advertising products to children of various ages. </li></ul>

Impact of Media On Children <ul><li>Watching violent television programs and movies increase violent behaviour in children. </li></ul><ul><li>Excessive television watching contributes to the increased incidence of childhood obesity. </li></ul><ul><li>Excessive television watching may have a deleterious effect on learning and academic performance. </li></ul><ul><li>Watching certain programs may encourage irresponsible sexual behaviour. </li></ul>

Television Tips <ul><li>Family viewing give children a choice of what to watch. </li></ul><ul><li>Restrict violent videos and DVD movies. </li></ul><ul><li>Encourage and model ways to play that do not involve violence. </li></ul><ul><li>Watch with the children and talk about the programs. </li></ul><ul><li>Refuse to let children see shows known to be violent. </li></ul>

Read the literature that accompanies video game products. </li></ul><ul><li>Discuss game content with children. </li></ul><ul><li>Observe children playing and periodically play along. </li></ul><ul><li>Assure adult supervision for arcade game playing. </li></ul><ul><li>Select games that promote problem solving, skill building, and cooperation, rather than violence. </li></ul>

Internet Safety <ul><li>Ask your Internet provider or computer store about programs that block access to adult–oriented sites, “chat rooms,” and bulletin boards. </li></ul><ul><li>Keep the computer in a high traffic part of the house. </li></ul><ul><li>Find websites you think your children will enjoy and “bookmark” them. </li></ul><ul><li>Teach your children about “netiquette” – appropriate on-line behavior. </li></ul><ul><li>Everything on the Internet is not true. </li></ul>

(like: Terrorism,Haking,Sucidal Habits etc.) </li></ul>

IMPACT OF MEDIA ON Women <ul><li>Helped in improving Education Standard. </li></ul><ul><li>Made them aware of their Rights & Equality Status. </li></ul><ul><li>Media has helped them to become more competitive. </li></ul><ul><li>Made them Conscious of their Look. </li></ul><ul><li>Media has helped them to become Self Dependent. </li></ul>
