  2. 2. An Overview- About Gujarat <ul><li>Gujarat is one of the state of Republic India. </li></ul><ul><li>The total area covered by Gujarat is 1,96,024 km 2 . </li></ul><ul><li>The capital of Gujarat is Gandhinagar. </li></ul><ul><li>Current Chief Minister is Mr. Narendra Modi </li></ul>

SOME FIGURES FOR YOU <ul><li>Gujarat holds many records in India for economic development: </li></ul><ul><li>20% of India’s Industrial Output </li></ul><ul><li>9% of India’s Mineral Production </li></ul><ul><li>22% of India’s exports </li></ul><ul><li>24% of India’s textile production </li></ul><ul><li>35% of India’s pharmaceutical products </li></ul><ul><li>51% of India’s petrochemical production </li></ul>

People Of Gujarat. <ul><li>Gujarati people are mostly Indo-Aryan origin. </li></ul><ul><li>Gujarati people are mainly located in northwestern part of Indian sub-continent { In Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and M.P in Indian region; in the Portuguese ruled part of India Daman & Diu, Dadra Nagar Haveli as well as in some parts of Pakistan } </li></ul><ul><li>Due to their hard work and entrepreneurial sprit many Gujarati’s have established themselves well in abroad. { Diamond business have bought many Gujarati’s to Belgium and motels business has large percentage of Gujarati’s in U.S. } </li></ul>
  5. 5. Population Of Gujarat State. <ul><li>The total population of Gujarat was 5,05,96,992 in 2001. </li></ul><ul><li>Total numbers of male were 2,63,44,053 and women were 2,42,52,939. </li></ul><ul><li>Ahmedabad is densely populated and kachcch is the least populated district </li></ul>

In all the 24 districts where population enumeration was conducted, Ahmedabad has the highest literacy rate of 79.89 per cent, while Dohad district accounted the lowest literacy rate of 45.65 per cent.

EDUCATION <ul><li>Gujarat has 13 universities and 4 agricultural universities. </li></ul><ul><li>Gujarat also has an Indian Institute of Management , at Ahmedabad , National Institute of Design , at Ahmedabad and a National Institute of Technology at Surat . </li></ul><ul><li>Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay is going to start a new campus in Gujarat in the near future. </li></ul>

INDUSTRIALISATION <ul><li>Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) have developed around 257 mega industrial estates such as the ones at Jhagadia, Vagra, Savli, Dahej, Anklaseshwar etc. </li></ul><ul><li>With the largest petro- chemical complex in the country, Gujarat is a major producer of inorganic chemicals such as soda-ash and caustic soda as well as chemical fertilizers. </li></ul><ul><li>The dairy industry with a milk procurement of 35 lakh liters is the largest in the country. </li></ul>

SURAT- A DIAMOND CITY <ul><li>Out of the 12 polished diamonds in the world, 11 are processed in India of which about 90 per cent are cut and polished in nearly 10,000 units in the diamond city alone. </li></ul><ul><li>About Rs 55,000 crore of annual export turnover is made alone by the diamond industry of Surat in 2007. </li></ul>
  10. 10. <ul><li>The diamond industry of Gujarat these days is facing a global crisis. The sky rocketing prices of the raw diamonds and the recent recession in American economy have forced thousand of workers to shift to other money generating business. This slowdown in the global market has made more than 4000 big and small diamond factories to struggle to survive in the market . </li></ul>
  11. 11. AGRICULTURE <ul><li>A higher percentage of the land is used for cultivation in central Gujarat. Kaira, Baroda, Broach and Surat districts are the main contributors to the agricultural production of the state. </li></ul><ul><li>The state produces a large variety of crops like Groundnut (highest production in the country), cotton, Tobacco (second highest production in the country) </li></ul>

Why Other States should not mess with GUJARAT !!!!! <ul><li>Gujarat is one of the most prosperous states of the country, having a per-capita GDP 3.2 times India’s average. </li></ul><ul><li>If it was a nation it would have been 67th richest nation in the world above many European and Asian economies like China and Ukraine . </li></ul><ul><li>The world’s largest ship breaking yard is in Gujarat near Bhavnagar at Alang. </li></ul>

Why Other States should not mess with GUJARAT !!!!! <ul><li>Reliance Petroleum Limited, one of the group companies of Reliance Industries Limited founded by Dhirubhai Ambani operates the oil refinery at Jamnagar which is the world’s largest grass roots refineries . </li></ul><ul><li>Gujarat is having the longest sea shore compared to any other Indian state </li></ul><ul><li>Gujarat is the safest state as the Crime rate of it is 8.2 which is the least in India even after considering 2002 communal riots, stated by India Today 2005 report. </li></ul>
