Who Moved My Cheese - Presentation Transcript

  1. Who Moved Cheese? My Spencer Johnson, M.D.
  2. Money? Respect? Work? Health? Family? What is Your Cheese? ? Love?
  3. Four Characters and a Maze Two Little People small as mice Two mice SCURRY Maze SNIFF & HAW HEM &
  4. The Search for Cheese Hem and Haw had complex brains full of beliefs, emotions Sniff and Scurry had simple brains and good instincts
  5. Common Goals Every morning they search for favorite cheese The maze was a complex system of paths or tunnels in which it is easy to get lost
  6. The Mice
    • Used trial-and-error
    • Sniff would smell out direction of cheese
    • Scurry would race ahead
    • No cheese, turn around and go down another corridor
    SNIFF and SCURRY
  7. The Little People
    • Used their complex brains and were more sophisticated
    • However, emotions and powerful human beliefs took over and clouded their thinking
    HAW and HEM
  8. Jackpot at Station C
    • Sniff & Scurry
      • Running shoes
    • Hem and Haw
      • Different Routine
  9. Happy and Comfortable
    • Successful
    • Cheese will last forever
    • Secure
    • Relocation, decorated with sayings about the Cheese
  10. Hem and Haw
    • Showed off their cheese
    • “ We deserve this Cheese”
    • Comfort zone
    Having Cheese Makes you Happy
  11. One Morning Station C had NO CHEESE !
    • How would the mice and little people react??
  12. Sniff and Scurry
    • Not surprised, they noticed the small changes in the cheese
    • Did not overanalyze
    • Put on their running shoes in search of new cheese
    SNIFF and SCURRY
  13. Hem and Haw
    • Hem: “Who moved MY cheese?” and yelled “It’s NOT FAIR !”
    • Haw: He was in disbelief and just tuned everything out
    Before returning home, both hungry and discouraged they wrote: The More Important Your Cheese is to you, The More you want to Hold on to It
  14. Next day
    • Hem and Haw return in hopes of finding the Cheese at Station C
  15. Hem and Haw analyze the situation
    • Why did they do this to me?
    • What’s really going on here?
    • Hey, where is Sniff and Scurry?
    • What do they know that I don’t know about the cheese?
  16. Sniff and Scurry
    • Moved On Quickly
    • In Search of New Cheese
  17. Sniff and Scurry Cheese Station N
  18. Back to Hem and Haw
    • HEM – Wants to Stay and wait for Cheese to return
    • HAW – Wants to search for new cheese but is afraid
    • Continue to dig for Cheese at Station C
    Haw finally realizes Yesterday’s Cheese is NOT coming back. It’s time to search for New Cheese
  19. Handwriting on the Wall If You Do Not Change, You Can Become Extinct
  20. Haw’s observations
    • Why didn’t I get up and move with the Cheese Sooner?
    • Anxious about returning to the Maze
    What would you do if You Weren’t Afraid??

    • Haw missed reading the signs that the Cheese was changing
      • Pile was getting smaller
      • Some of the cheese did not taste good
      • Old Cheese had mold
    Smell The Cheese Often So You Know When It is Getting Old
  23. Haw Searches for New Cheese
    • Haw wondered if Hem was searching for new cheese
    • Haw fought his fears while in the maze, he felt best when he was moving
    Movement in A New Direction Helps You Find New Cheese
  24. As Haw searched for new cheese, he wrote new lessons on the wall Imagining Yourself Enjoying your New Cheese Leads You to It The Quicker You Let Go Of the Old Cheese, The sooner You find New Cheese It is Safer to Search In the Maze Than remain in a Cheeseless Situation
