Business.com sold for US $7.5 million to eCompanies, which was purchased in 1997 for US $149,000. 2001: Alibaba.com achieved profitability in December 2001. 2002: eBay acquires PayPal for $1.5 billion. 2003: Amazon.com posts first yearly profit. 2007: Business.com acquired by R.H. Donnelley for $345 million. 2009: Zappos.com acquired by Amazon.com for $928 million. 2010: Groupon rejects a $6 billion offer from Google. IPO on 4 November 2011. It was the largest IPO since Google. 2011: Quidsi.com, parent company of Diapers.com, acquired by Amazon. com for $500 million in cash plus $45 million in debt and other obligations. GSI Commerce, a company specializing in creating, developing and running online shopping sites for brick and mortar businesses, acquired by eBay for $2.4 billion. 2012: US eCommerce and Online Retail sales projected to reach $226 billion, an increase of 12 percent over 2011. 2012: US eCommerce and Online Retail holiday sales reach $33.8 billion, up 13 percent.

Being held on the Monday after Black Friday, usually during end November or early December. ● Tmall and Taobao marketplaces collectively achieved a world-record US$3 billion in sales during 11 November 2012, more than double of Cyber Monday's achievement and US$4.9 billion sales in a single day on 2013! ● Thai version of Cyber Monday is expected to drive close to US$16 million online sales (source) in 8 days campaign, starting from 26 November 2013.

Mobile ● Mobile usage in Malaysia has increased from 10% in May 2012 to 20% in May 2013, almost double within a year. ● Nielsen: "Malaysia smartphone penetration rate is at 27%" (2012, source) ● According to Nielsen-PayPal Analysis, m-commerce market size in Malaysia was RM467 million in year 2011. RM337 million (72%) were spent on smartphones while RM108 million (23%) via tablets. ● The total online commerce market in 2011 by referring to the same report was RM1.97 billion, that means close to 24% was mobile.
