2. This is a whole school approach to Behaviour
Management
The philosophy behind this approach is to allow
pupils to think about their behaviour and
identify the choices that they can make to help
them follow the school rules.
There are six STEPS to the programme.
3. Warning – Verbal Rule Reminder using the 5
Reflection Questions.
What were you doing?
What should you have been doing?
What rule did you break?
Who were you disturbing?
What are you going to do now?
4. STEP 2 STEP 3
Yellow Warning Card – Red Warning Card –
Lose 5 House Points Lose another 5 House
Points
5. Reflection Sheet –
Child sent to Middle Area to complete sheet and
then returns to class. The Reflection Sheet is a
written version of the above questions which is
signed by both the child and the teacher and
subsequently filed. Parent notified by note in
homework jotter.

issued to the parents
requesting a meeting
regarding pupil’s
behaviour.
13. Provides a consistent approach across whole
school
Reflection Questions mean that we will all be
using the same language– reinforces
consistent approach but also takes the emotion
out of a situation
Children really have to think about what they
have done ( sometimes some children don’t
know why they have been sent to detention)
14. Provides a record of behaviour/incidents
Gives us a tier between losing house points
and detention
Has been proven to be very effective in
reducing low level behaviour incidents.
