Important Provisions of Charter of 1833The Charter Acts of 1833 centralized the administration in IndiaThe Governor General of Bengal, according to the act was declared as theGovernor General of India.Governor General in council got powers of superintendence, direction andcontrol of the whole civil and military government and the revenues of IndiaThe charter Act of 1833 enlarged the Executive council by the addition offourth member (Law Member) for legislative purposes

All the laws and enacts passed by the legislative council were called as Acts ofthe Government of India, before this they were called as regulations.It provided for the appointment of a law commission in IndiaThe Act provided that there would be no indiscrimination made between theIndian and the British residents in Indian provinces on the basis of caste, creedand religion Charter of 1833 made provision to create uniform and codified system of lawin India
