  • 1. Go to http://tagul.com/ and register
  • 2. You can create up to 10 word clouds. Click on create.
  • 3. Type in the words you want researched
  • 4. Repeat words you want to appear larger in the word cloud
  • 5. http://www.wordnik.com/ You could also use Visuwords, Eyeplorer, lexipedia. Choose a site to use for the research. Tagul automatically Or any online dictionaries and uses google. I have encyclopaedias chosen Wordnik.
  • 6. Type in a word to search
  • 7. Highlight the URL before the word you typed in and copy
  • 8. Highlight the link before the ‘$’ and paste the new URL
  • 9. It should appear like this Keep as lower case
  • 10. Click on Fetch tags
  • 11. Select a shape for your word cloud
  • 12. Select fonts, you can choose more than one. Select angles for the words to appear or select random and then click on >> Click on ‘build a cloud’
  • 13. The word cloud will be generated
  • 14. Click on preview
  • 15. Your word cloud will appear. If you are not happy you can go back and make alterations. I have noticed that too many are upside- down
  • 16. I have changed the angles and click on build cloud again
  • 17. Select Style Options. Select colours for text, background and rollover colours
  • 18. Click on Preview. If you are not happy with the colour combination, click on refresh.
  • 19. Here is a new colour combination
  • 20. Move your mouse over a word and click
  • 21. It should go to Wordnik and give information on the word you selected
  • 22. Click on finalize, choose the size of the word cloud, save and copy the embed text
  • 23. You can then add your word cloud to your blog or virtual classroom.
