How to Maintain Your Jacuzzi Hot Tub in 5 Simple Steps Written By: Sheila SummersA Jacuzzi hot tub is an expensive investment and it requires consistentmaintenance and care if you intend on using it for a long time. There are afew steps that you must follow in order to get the most out of your hot tubsand make sure that they last for the decades to come. Here are those 5 steps:1. Test the Water in Your Jacuzzi Hot Tub WeeklyTesting the water in the tub is very important in order to make it knownwhether the water composition is good and safe. It is also crucial in showingwhether the tub is free from problems such as scaling, mineral buildup, andunpleasant-smelling water. The test tests will establish the action to take ifcase the Jacuzzi hot tub experience problems. In case it does happen, youmay have to use and add additives to the water to maintain the perfectbalance.Testing the water depends on the type of hot tubs. Newly bought hot tubsusually come with testing strips or drops which are meant for the Jacuzzi hottub type. For hot tubs which use bromine, the test strip will show the levelsof chlorine, bromine, alkalinity, and water pH. Chlorine disinfected hot tubson the other hand, is tested for the water pH and alkalinity. If you have anaturally purified Jacuzzi hot tub, the test strip shall indicate the levels of“monopersulfates” in the water along with its pH level and alkalinity. How to Maintain Your Jacuzzi Hot Tub in 5 Simple Steps ©2010

Thereare many varying products for hot tubs with low pH levels while there arethose that with extremely high pH. It is however very important to ensurethat your hot tub has its purifier in at all times whether natural or brominebased.3. Giving Your Jacuzzi Hot Tub Shock TreatmentWith hot tub maintenance, add a stronger (than the regular) dose of sanitizerat least once a week. Jacuzzi hot tub owners are advised to shock their tubsdepending on the number of times that they use it in week. If you use the tubabout one to four times in a week then a single weekly shock is perfect, butin case you use it more frequently then two shocks weekly should do it. Thisalso applies for bromine and chlorine sanitized hot tubs.If your hot tub has a natural purifier, you might also want to do a light shockafter each use aside from the heavy shock treatment per week.4. Keep the Pump Filter CleanEvery Jacuzzi hot tub comes with a manufacturer’s instructions on how thepump and pump filter are cleaned. With these in mind, you have to ensurethat there’s no debris clogging the filter basket. This in turn will make surethat the hot tubs are in perfect running condition.5. Let the Pumps RunIf the water in the Jacuzzi hot tub remains stagnant for long periods of time,it will become sufficient grounds for bacterial and fungal colonies. It’s bestto let the pumps run for most of the day, or if possible all day long.If you choose to have the pumps operating for a particular number of hoursper day then you may purchase timers which turn your hot tubs pump on andoff automatically. How to Maintain Your Jacuzzi Hot Tub in 5 Simple Steps ©2010
