  • 1. Getting Addicted to God?
  • 2.
    • Can you hardly wait until you can experience the feeling that comes from taking part in the experience?
    • Do you find yourself avoiding people because they interfere with your addiction?
    • Do you find yourself daydreaming about your habit?
    • Do you regularly turn to your habit when you are troubled?
    • Do you feel better able to face life after engaging in your habit?
    • Do you get upset if you cannot partake in your habit for a long period of time?
    • Do you prefer to be with other people who do what you do?
  • 3. As David said…
    • Psalm 42:1-2
    • As a deer gets thirsty for streams of water, I truly am thirsty for you, my God. In my heart, I am thirsty for you, the living God. When will I see your face?
  • 4. What does it mean to be addicted to God? What does God want us to be addicted to? How can I become more addicted to God?
  • 5. Get addicted to reading the bible...
    • Psalm 119:101-105
    • I obey your word instead of following a way that leads to trouble. You have been my teacher, and I won't reject your instructions. Your teachings are sweeter than honey. They give me understanding and make me hate all lies. Your word is a lamp that gives light wherever I walk.
  • 6. Get addicted to praising God...
    • Psalm 145:1-3
    • I will praise you, my God and King, and always honour your name. I will praise you each day and always honour your name. You are wonderful, LORD, and you deserve all praise, because you are much greater than anyone can understand
  • 7. Get addicted to prayer...
    • 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Always be joyful and never stop praying. Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do.
    • Ephesians 6:18
    • Never stop praying, especially for others. Always pray by the power of the Spirit. Stay alert and keep praying for God's people.
  • 8. Get addicted to being together...
    • Acts 2:42 They spent their time learning from the apostles, and they were like family to each other. They also broke bread and prayed together.
    • 1John 1:7
    • But if we live in the light, as God does, we share in life with each other. And the blood of his Son Jesus washes all our sins away.
  • 9. Get addicted to sharing God ...
    • Acts 5:42 Every day they spent time in the temple and in one home after another. They never stopped teaching and telling the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.
  • 10. Get addicted to giving for the needs of God’s people...
    • 2 Corinthians 8:2-3 Although they were going through hard times and were very poor, they were glad to give generously. They gave as much as they could afford and even more, simply because they wanted to.
  • 11. Get addicted to God’s creation…
    • Psalm 104
      • You built the foundations of the Earth…
      • You provide streams of water in the hills and the valleys…
      • Birds build their nests in trees…
      • The sun knows when to set..
    • Luke 12:27
      • Look at how the wild flowers grow…
      • God gives such beauty to everything that grows…
      • Won’t he do even more for you?
  • 12.
  • 13.
  • 14.
  • 15.
  • 16.
  • 17. Be like David…
    • Psalm 63:1-2
    • God—you're my God! I can't get enough of you! I've worked up such hunger and thirst for God, travelling across dry and weary deserts. So here I am in the place of worship, eyes open, drinking in your strength and glory. In your generous love I am really living at last! My lips brim praises like fountains. I bless you every time I take a breath; My arms wave like banners of praise to you.

And because we belong to Christ Jesus, we have killed our selfish feelings and desires. God's Spirit has given us life, and so we should follow the Spirit.
