1. 1. The good, the bad, and what matters
 2. 2.

To express an opinion

To analyse an event

To promote a product

To highlight news

To discuss a problem

To share a photograph

To examine a concept

or even a mix of the above...

To examine an opinion

To share an event

To discuss a product

To highlight a problem

To promote a concept

To analyse a photograph

To express a concept

 3. 3.

That depends on what you want to say....

 4. 4.

Good

Space to fully analyse and criticise a topic, and write as much as you want (within reason)

Satisfaction of being able to say (pretty much) everything you want to say about something you are interested in

Possibility that if you produce a well considered and presented piece of work someone may find your blog useful

Opportunity for reflection on what you have been learning about

 5. 5.

Bad

Time consuming to produce

Need to fully reference and resource to create worthwhile piece of writing

Need to structure carefully

Much care and effort required in production and presentation to ensure it is taken seriously

Exposure of one's thoughts and opinions in a detailed piece of writing

 6. 6.

Good

Easy to post from e-mail, from mobile phone, on the go, thus fast gratification - have an idea and it's posted

Brief outlines of ideas (seemingly) sufficient

Multimedia postings quick and easy to do, and images look great (so much better than Facebook)

Postings can be distributed to other sources quickly and easily

 7. 7.

Bad

Probably comes down to differences between blogging tools - e.g. Tumblr and Posterous

Not so keen on dashboard of Tumblr

Not keen on Tumblr settings for followers, who have to sign up to comment

Ease of use leads to lots of irrelevant and unimportant material being posted

Not much else!

 8. 8.

Good

Very quick and easy

Appropriate tools allow management of volume of material

Following the trends, can comment on the latest news and events

Functionality of hashtags, @symbols etc.

Instant gratification - have a thought, tweet and it is there in the timeline or on your wall for all to see

 9. 9.

Bad

Your post is among huge volume of irrelevant material

Fast distribution of comment to the world (if you make a mistake it's there for all to see)

Moves on quickly

Not enough space to say what you want to say

 10. 10.

Complexity of full blog

Ease of use so not encouraging planning and structure for mini blog

Fast distribution of micro blog
