  • 2. furiously – quickly wildly
    When people are acting furiously they are having extreme or violent energy.
    The waves crashed furiously into the lighthouse.
    Describe a time when someone might act furiously.
  • 3. occasion- a special; event
    An occasion is a special time, event, ceremony, or celebration.
    Cindy’s party was quite an occasion.
    What are some special occasions that people celebrate?
  • 4. subway- an underground electric railway
    A subway is a train system which is located entirely underground.
    Many people read the newspaper while riding the subway to work.
    How are subway trains and railroad trains alike and different?
  • 5. liverwurst– a sausage made mostly of liver
    Liverwurst is a spicy cooked sausage that is made with a mixture of ground liver and pork, seasoned with a select range of spices and plenty of onions.
    Brian loves liverwurst sandwiches.
    Name another lunch meat that looks like liverwurst.
  • 6. scrounging- searching about for what you can find
    Scrounging is seeking to obtain something by scavenging, begging, or borrowing with no intention of reimbursement.
    He is scrounging for coinsin the couch because he does not have enough money to buy a soda.
    When might you go scrounging for something?
  • 7. sympathetically –with kindness
    When someone is acting sympathetically ,he or she is showing compassion for someone else in their time of need.
    He listen to his son sympathetically as he talked about his lost cat.
    What is an antonym for sympathetically?
