    A period is a length of time that is meaningful in the life of a person, in history, or because of its particular characteristics.
    Colonial Period

  • 3. Vessels- ships or large boats
    Vessels are ships or large boats.
    Columbus set out with three vessels to find India.
    What are some purposes of vessels?
  • 4. Valuable- important, or worth a lot of money
    Something valuable is of great worth, or is extremely important.
    Paintings in a museum are valuable.
    What is an antonym of valuable?
  • 5. Estimated- guessed at
    If something is estimated, it is guessed at based on facts or information.
    We estimated that building the snow fort would take about three hours.
    = 10
    How is an estimated total different from one that is calculated?
  • 6. Documenting- writing down or recording an item or event
    When someone is documenting an item or event, he or she is making a record of it.
    We are documenting how the bean seeds are growing.
