The Los Angeles Lakers franchise began in 1947 in Minneapolis, winning five championships in the next six years led by George Mikan. They drafted Elgin Baylor in 1958 and moved to Los Angeles in 1960. In the 1970s, they had a 33-game win streak and won the 1972 championship behind Jerry West and Gail Goodrich. The Showtime Era of the 1980s brought five titles behind the duo of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson. Shaquille O'Neal led the Lakers to three straight titles from 2000-2002. Kobe Bryant became the all-time leading scorer for the Lakers franchise and won five championships.
