Aims <ul><li>To facilitate and assist students’ English learning in an integrated manner through employing information technology </li></ul><ul><li>To arouse students’ interests on developing the four language skills: reading, writing, listening & speaking </li></ul><ul><li>To cultivate students’ generic skills, esp. in communication and collaborative skills. </li></ul><ul><li>To enable students to self-learn </li></ul>

Objectives <ul><li>To enable students: </li></ul><ul><li>To exercise their English reading and listening skills (e-book) </li></ul><ul><li>To use IT as a tool in class and as a tutor outside class </li></ul><ul><li>To enable students: </li></ul><ul><li>To practise their English reading, writing and speaking </li></ul>

The E-Book (Electronic Book) <ul><li>E-book is the digital media equivalent of a conventional printed book. </li></ul><ul><li>Advantages: </li></ul><ul><li>Storage -- Less physical space is required to store e-books </li></ul><ul><li>Reader-friendly --- size/font of the text can be changed. </li></ul><ul><li>Cost effective – production does not consume the paper, ink, and other resources that are used to produce print books </li></ul>

The E-Book (Electronic Book) <ul><li>Disadvantages: </li></ul><ul><li>Consumption of electricity – power needed </li></ul><ul><li>Health issues – staring at a computer screen for a long time may cause eye trouble and sometimes headaches </li></ul><ul><li>Device failure – may lose the e-book if the hard disk drive fails </li></ul>

The E-book <ul><li>To provide students with hands-on-experience activity. </li></ul><ul><li>Features of the E-book includes: </li></ul><ul><li>Microsoft PowerPoint- for creating the base of the E-book </li></ul><ul><li>Audicity – for sound recording </li></ul><ul><li>Paint – for cropping of the pictures </li></ul><ul><li>Clip art on office online – for gathering pictures </li></ul><ul><li>Shapes – for adding speech bubbles </li></ul><ul><li>Slide number – for students to follow the right order (avoid skipping pages) </li></ul><ul><li>Custom animations – Adding effects to: </li></ul><ul><li>paragraphs </li></ul><ul><li>pictures </li></ul><ul><li>motion paths </li></ul>
