Permaculture Principle 3: Obtain a Yield
We’ve talked about first two basic principles of permaculture asadvocated by Holmgren.
Observe and interactWhat it means: Nature is a teacher in all herglories. For a natural problem in sight, there’s anatural solution on hand. There’s a beginning andthere’s an end, but between these twoparameters, the natural cycle keeps movingwithout bringing any pause to the existingsystem.
Catch and store energyWhat it means: Nature teaches us to preservethings that are useful and resourceful; both fortoday and tomorrow. But it is all due to theignorance that we fail to understand theunderlying concept. We use things thinking aboutnow and forget to store them ignoring the future.
So what we can learn from the third principleThink about what you achieved today by using whichresourcesA resource, if unproductive, is of no useSecure today to survive and sustain tomorrowThe whole system should remain productive and flexible
