Bon Voyage Picnic Saturday, June 18 from 2 to 4pm <ul><li>Students will bring packed luggage as if leaving for Paris the day of the picnic. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Luggage : l + w + h = 54 in or less and have wheels </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Weight: 45 lbs or less </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Leave room for souvenirs! </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Carry on : School-size backpack </li></ul></ul>

    9. 9. Discipline <ul><li>No horse-play </li></ul><ul><li>Leaders stand in as “parents” while abroad </li></ul><ul><li>Laws in other countries are not the same as in USA </li></ul><ul><li>Leaders’ job is to keep everyone safe and rules are part of that </li></ul>
    10. 10. “ Mail Call” and Homesickness <ul><li>The purpose of Mail Call is to help avoid homesickness. </li></ul><ul><li>Please bring THREE cards addressed to your child to be included in our delegation “Mail Call” to be passed out throughout the program. </li></ul><ul><li>Please include: </li></ul><ul><li>Child’s First and Last name </li></ul><ul><li>Number envelopes 1, 2, 3 in order to be delivered </li></ul><ul><li>All three must fit inside a 1 gal Ziplock (regular card envelope is best) </li></ul><ul><li>Due at Bon Voyage Picnic </li></ul>
    11. 11. “ Mail Call” and Homesickness <ul><li>Keep letters upbeat. </li></ul><ul><li>You may put US money in last envelope for plane ride home. </li></ul><ul><li>Pictures and notes from siblings and grandparents are great, too! </li></ul>
    12. 12. “ Mail Call” and Homesickness <ul><li>Parents ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CRY ON THE PHONE!!! </li></ul><ul><li>If your child calls home and is upset, your first question should be, “Have you talked to your Leader about this?” </li></ul><ul><li>It’s best for delegates to call home during our morning hours. It’s convenient for everyone, and not during bed time when students are tired and more likely to be weepy. </li></ul>
    13. 13. Departure Day Sunday, June 26 at Noon <ul><li>Bring Ambassador in uniform, suitcase, backpack to Cleve-Hopk Intl. Airport. </li></ul><ul><li>Park in “short term parking”. </li></ul><ul><li>Meet Jill and Susan in Baggage Claim down stairs. </li></ul>
    14. 14. Departure Day Sunday, June 26 at Noon <ul><li>As students come in Jill and Susan will escort small groups at a time to check in their large piece of luggage upstairs, while parents wait for their child holding their carry-on/backpack down stairs. </li></ul>
    15. 15. Departure Day Sunday, June 26 at Noon <ul><li>Once all students have checked their bags, we’ll say our good-byes and the delegation will continue through security where our adventure begins. </li></ul><ul><li>Students will have assigned seats on the plane, however we will be seated as a group. </li></ul>
    16. 16. Return Day Saturday, July 9 at 9:45 pm <ul><li>Susan will be in touch through the Phone Tree how our flight is progressing; on time, etc. </li></ul><ul><li>Be back at Cleve Hopk Airport Saturday Night to welcome your child home! </li></ul>

    18. 18. Staying Healthy <ul><li>Be well hydrated the day before the flight! </li></ul><ul><li>Have a refillable water bottle labeled with child’s name to fit on to backpack. </li></ul><ul><li>For every glass of pop, drink a glass of water. (Carbonated drinks dehydrate you!) </li></ul>

All students will be seen by at least one leader. </li></ul><ul><li>Always have your journal with you. </li></ul><ul><li>Know who has your room key and lock your door when you leave your room. </li></ul>

Hotel Safety <ul><li>Always ask “Who is it?” before opening the door. </li></ul><ul><li>Do not open your door to anyone but roommates and Leaders. </li></ul><ul><li>Always use the peep-hole. </li></ul><ul><li>Report issues to your leaders. </li></ul><ul><li>Write down the room numbers of your leaders each new place you stay. </li></ul><ul><li>Write down the emergency meeting place outside the hotel in case there is a fire alarm. </li></ul>

(We will not take a camera.) </li></ul><ul><li>Many electronics are “isolating”. We are on this mission to get your parents’ moneys worth out of this program and to encourage all of you to interact with each other. </li></ul>
