Unit 4: Challenging Behaviors

  1. 1.  We all face challenging issues from time to time in life, but they’re different in the work place.
  2. 2.  They need to be approached with professionalism and with regard to others.
  3. 3.  This creates a problem because it shows a bad punctual attitude and will affect your reputation and future opportunities.
  4. 4.  It shows the company that you’re not as committed to them as they thought you were and it looks very bad on your part.
  5. 5.  In some companies, this lateness policy is extremely strict, and you can be dismissed if you are late even twice.
  6. 6.  Having a bad attitude is a terrible thing to have, especially towards co-workers.
  7. 7.  If your attitude is very bad and it starts affecting your work as well as others’ work, your position in the company may be put in jeopardy.
  8. 8.  As well as this, people may start to think differently about you, and let’s face it…it’s always good for people to like you, and to have friends.
  9. 9.  Sometimes people are affected by things that happen outside of work.
  10. 10.  Allowing these issues to penetrate through to your workflow (and attitude) can severely damage your work life.
  11. 11.  If your emotional problems become visible to others, they may feel sympathy or empathy, but either way it is not who you are supposed to be at work.  This, again, can put your employment in jeopardy.
  12. 12.  This is probably the most important part of your job, isn’t it? Doing what you get paid for, what you’re supposed to be skilled at.
  13. 13.  If you go to work, and leave work, without completing tasks, what is the point of going into work in the first place?
  14. 14.  This is the thing that, if comes most obvious, is what will make you lose your job.
  15. 15.  These are few examples of challenging behaviours in the workplaces. We have looked at some of these issues and how to avoid them.  These rules and ways of life in work may differ from industry to industry.
