Tadao Ando - Chapel at Mount RokkoIn this project we were assigned well knownbuildings by acclaimed Architects, we werethen supposed to research the buildings andfind any existing Plans and Sections andanalyze them. After learning what we couldabout our assigned projects we were then tobegin redrafting the documents using Auto-CAD. The assignment also required that inthe process of reconstructing the documentswe generate new documents, by choosingnew areas to take sections from and filling inthe information from those sections basedon the information we gained by analysingthe existing documents. This was our firstintroduction to the Autodesk software andhas served as the foundation for furtherdesign development in almost all projectssince.

Fountain Inn Light Rail Station This is actually the second part to a larger project which involved the masterplanning of a town in South Carolina named Fountain Inn. While creating that masterplan my part- ner and I realized the importance of the Railroad in the original design of the town and sought to bring that significant infastruc- ture back into importance for the town. The way that we proposed to do that was by Greenville creating a new Light Rail service from Greenville to Fountain Inn with the new train Station forming a new focal point for the town. While developing this project I began to utilize AutoCAD and Rhino as my main design tools as well as the Adobe Creative Suite for layout and other design elements. The following project is my Individual design for our proposed Light Rail Station connect- Fountain Inn ing Fountain Inn to Greenville

Replicating an object with Illustratior While this project was not completed for an Architecture studio It has great importance to my understanding and development of the design tools used in studio. Specifically the Adobe Creative Suite; I took a Graphics Communications Course which focused on utilizing and understaning the tools found in the Adobe Suite. The programs covered in this class were Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign. The example shown here is my final project for the illustrator portion of the course in which we were supposed to find a picture of an object and replicate it using the tools found in Illustrator only. This involved many of the advanced tools and exemplifies a deep understanding of the program.
Passieg- Marketplace and Public SpaceThis is the most recent project I have com-pleted. Over the last semester I have beenstudying abroad in Barcelona, during thisstudio we were given a location in the city todesign a marketplace in. The location mypartner and I were given was within theEixamlpe ( which is the planned and griddedarea of the city) The location was located inthe interior of one of the blocks and washard to access so my partner and I focusedmainly on a way to draw people into thespace, drawing on the Idea of a pocket parkand green roof above the marketplace. Thisproject allowed us to design for a real worldsetting and exposed us to some of the diffi-culties surrounding the development of newarchitecture within an existing build environ-ment. An additional challenge we faced wasIdentifying and catering to a different culturethan we were familiar with. Overall the proj-ect was a success
PASSEIG CONNECTING MARKETPLACE TO PUBLIC SPACE SHANE SMITH WORTH YOUNTS Operative Mapping: Upon Inspection and study of the Area where the site is situated we arrived at the conclusion that the major problem that needed to be corrected was the lack of access to the site. To resolve this deficiency we made a study of the building facades which were visible from possible points of entry. This analysis was undertaken from varying heights within the site from street level to terrace level in order to broaden our understanding of the visual impact of the space on upon entry. From this process we made decisions regarding new and existing points of entry as well as possible Interaction with surrounding buildings based on the flexibility of program.SITE PLAN OPERATIVE MAP
How do we bringpeople into the space? Whathappens once they are there? Thesefirst and most important questions arewhat shaped and guided the courseof our Market Proposal.
