  2. 2.  Born in Selma, Alabama on March 17, 1972 Mia was one of 6 Moved about 7 times to places like Italy, Virginia, Texas and others because she lived in a military family Her family adopted an 8 year old Thai- American boy named Garret. Played football with all boys.
  3. 3.  Because she was part of a military family, she didn’t have time to go to elementary school. For middle school she went to P.S. 121 For high school she went to Lake Braddock Secondary School and College and South Lakes And for college she went to University of North Carolina and Chapel Hill
  4. 4.  Played on Womens USA National Soccer team Also played on the North Carolina Tar Heels Soccer team First got married to Christian Corry. Then Nomar Garciaparra (the short stop on the Boston Red Sox)
  5. 5.  Main accomplishment- to improve 1987- youngest women to play on US National team(15) 1989- won 4 NCAA titles 1991- won the FIFA women’s world cup for first time
