Studied music theory, had singing lessons and studied French and English. In 1834, was sent to a school in Dresden, Germany to study voice and instrumentation.
Successful pianist, made own business arrangements, composed music and taught piano to other students. Married Robert Schumann (pianist) and they had 8 children.
Performed for the czar and czarina of Russia. Became an Honorary Member of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Society. Composed four compositions.
Wanted the world to appreciate how beautiful music was.
Died on May 20th, 1896 at age 76. Died from a stroke.
