  • 3. How to start & why to start?
    In Early 90`s Capt Gopinath saw Indian Aviation Industry booming due to Liberalisation policy. On these days he was in Vietnam where he was very impressed and motivated by large heli-charter industry and wondered about its feasibility in India.   • 4. He studied the Heli Industry of Brazil, Philippines and then compare India. No heli transport industry in India but the facts convinced him that helicopter company in India would definitely prosper and he could make business succeed.
  • 5. Govt. License and clearances took his 2 years 3 months to start Non-Scheduled Charter in India. While trying for clearances he was also involved sericulture Business & a company to provide agriculutural consultancy services in Bangalore. He set up some water supply business..
  • 6. Starting.. Helicopter Business
  • 7. Information Gathering.
    Samuel Identified a list of helicopter companies all over the world. Letters were sent to these companies to check about types of Helicopters available, the cost, the terms and conditions applicable if a copter company had to be leased, other many legal issues..
  • 8. Resources (Money)
    The company started with two helicopters and 35 lakhs. MrS.N.Ladhani gave some investment also for company to grow.
    Paymants were made on time that results in developing reputation of Air Deccan in the Market.

    The company requires more funding so Gopinath approach TDICI, a venture capitalist and presenated his idea to them and they intant to give money. Now Gopirealise the importance to fund so it attached with Financial Institutions in order to get funding easily.

  • 13. Air Deccan involve middle class and low class people to travel.
    It cater to vast size of population and huge amount of passengers.
    He decided to provide aviation service at low cost in comparison to other companies.
    Deccan aviation had to say predetermined % of the revenue generated with the company hotels. Had to insure place for landing.

    It means Air Deccan will not provide any designer cabin or beautiful girls on board but it gives simply travel to those whom are travelling in working, students, working class without any frills. It mean simple fly that means Low Cost Flying.
  • 17. Innovative decisions
    From beginning to till now it always creates something new with more creative and innovative ideas for low cost, cheap travel, Ticketing, seats in aircraft, no meal service, Advance ticketing before 90days etc.
    The concept of flying by hour is new but attract the passengers.
  • 18. Staffing decisions
    Air Deccan is operating in small towns and cities and that also 1/2 flight a day so it doesn`t requires staff for whole day so somehow they arrange staff from airport and manage to work that ways. It reduces cost.
