Identity is required to check out books.  Books loaned to IUB students would be: BBA/B.Sc Hons etc. Three Books for Fourteen Days Ma/Msc Three Books for Fourteen Days Mphil/Phd Six Books for Two Months  Issuance limit for IUB Staff will be according to following criteria: Heads of Administrative Departments (HODs) Five Books for One month Deputy Heads/Assistant Head Three Books for one month Administrative Officers Three Books for one Month Office Assistants/Clerks Two Books for One Month Drivers/Peons/Attendants etc. Two Books for One Month  Faculty and teaching staff will be eligible to barrow fifteen books for three months.  Secondary/Primary School teachers can barrow three books for one month.  Circulating books may be renewed once unless they are placed on hold by another or they are overdue. Renewals will not be granted by telephone or email requests.  A book urgently required in the library must be returned on receipt of notice from circulation department even before of the expiry of the prescribed period.  A hold may be placed on any book already checked out.  Reference materials and CDs do not circulate. Technical Processing Section plays a key role to function the library. It makes a bridge between the acquisition of documents to the Circulation.   2. 2. Classification of books following DDC latest edition (presently using 22nd ed.). Before consult DDC, we check our database and provide the earlier class number in case of same title if found. Cataloguing of books following AACR-II. Prepare Subject Heading following Library of Congress Subject Heading. Preparing / Update Database using Libsys 4.0 software. Generating Bar-Code using Libsys 4.0 software. Classify books as General, TBL, SC/ST, Gallery, Reference etc. Update database for the classified books also for Binding, Lost Books etc. Stamping and labeling barcode, spine-label. Generate list of new arrival of books which includes bibliographic details including Abstract. New Arrivals Put hardcopy of new arrivals into display board (weekly). Simultaneously those books are kept for 'New Arrival' Display. During that week we restrict those books for any issue through Libsys database. New arrivals with bibliographic details are updated on website. (weekly displayed). Maintain archive for all books processed and shelved since the year 2004. This archive can be accessed by clicking Here. Send this list to the IIT Kharagpur community through g-mail (weekly). Send all books for Circulation to the users (weekly). Ph.D Theses Uploaded to IDR. (weekly displayed).
