      • Oracle is the World’s #1 Relational Database (RDBMS) with almost 50% of the market share
      • It is generally the preferred database for ERP implementations such as SAP or PeopleSoft
      • Oracle Database is implemented in the vast majority of companies in Pakistan where database applications are of a critical nature
      • World’s second largest software company ($22 Billion in Sales in 2008)

      • Oracle Academy is a worldwide academic alliance that supports 655,000+ students in 86 countries.
      • Partners with academia and helps students develop the technology and business skills required professional careers.
      • Offers 3 Curriculum Programs:
        • Introduction to Computer Science
        • Advanced Computer Science (Selected by IBA)
        • Enterprise Business Applications

    4. Objectives of the AIAP
      • Advantages for IBA Faculty & Students:
        • IBA will have free access to Oracle Database and Middleware software, including:
          • Oracle Developer Suite
          • Oracle Application Server
          • Oracle Warehouse Builder
        • Use of industry-leading Database and Middleware software in key Computer Science and MIS courses.
        • Faculty training in Oracle database and applications at reduced cost
        • Access to a world-class technical curriculum (Advanced Computer Science)
      • Bridge the gap between Industry needs and academic curriculum

    5. Implementation
      • In the first phase, selected IBA Computer Science & MIS faculty shall be training in concerned Oracle courses
      • Faculty members shall introduce these as part of existing and enhanced courses in their domains from Fall 2009
      • In the lab portion the Oracle components shall be taught as one of possibly several leading solutions
      • Courses include: Database Systems, Data Warehousing, Web Application Development, among others
      • Finally, students conducting their Final Year Projects will have the option to use Oracle Database and applications in their capstone projects
