1. CONDITIONAL SENTENCES
Dalam kegiatan komunikasi sehari-hari, kita sering berandai-andai untuk mengandaikan
sesuatu yang terjadi pada diri kita sehingga dengan hal itu kita dapat melakukan sesuatu. Kalimat
pengandaian tersebut dalam bahasa Inggris disebut conditional sentences. Kita mengenal 3 jenis
conditional sentences yaitu masing-masing memiliki esensi yang berbeda sebagai berikut.
1. Rencana (Plan) atau Kemungkinan (Possibility)
Example : 1. If you don’t eat breakfast, you will be hungry.
2. If you need to go to University, you will have to prepare everything from now.
3. If you enough time tomorrow, will you come to my house?
Ciri tipe 1 ini adalah menggunakan simple present (verb I) dan sebab akibat.
2. Khayalan atau Angan-Angan (Imagination)
Example : 1. If the price of gasoline were only Rp 1.000,- per litter, I would spend all my
money for it.
2. If Agnes were my gire friend, I would not wait to marry her too long.
3. What would you do if you found Rp 1.000.000,- on the street?
Ciri tipe 2 ini adalah menggunakan simple past (verb II).
3. Penyesalan (Regret)
Example : 1. If you had got the invitation for the meeting, what would you have don’t?
2. If it didn’t rain very had yesterday, what would you have don’t?
3. If of Danny had come to my house yesterday, I would have sarvedher special
fruit juice.
Ciri tipe 3 ini adalah menggunakan had + verb III…………………would have + verb III.
