  • Nice summary - good points there. For our games we're using most of those plus a few more techniques:

    1/ Daily return bonuses to encourage them to come back
    2/ Focus groups and usability tests to make the new user experience smoother
    3/ Use stats (flurry) and in app surveys (polljoy) to figure out where and why people drop out after the first 15 minutes and fix it
    4/ Focus on personal touch in customer support when they do have problems

    Retention is hard to get right... for every project that we launch we would kill one in alpha or beta. Sometimes better to start with clean slate than try to put polish on a pig
