Walter Frederick invented the frisbee in 1957 while trying to recreate unidentified flying objects (UFOs). He sold his flying disc invention through his company Wham-O as a toy flying saucer. The frisbee got its name from Frisbie pie company, as college students began throwing the pie tins like discs after eating. Common games played with a frisbee include catch with friends, fetch with a dog, ultimate frisbee with a team, and frisbee golf.
