Reviews on Top Mac Keyloggers
Keylogger is a program which can be used to backup files typed on the computer. Of course, in
addition to backup files, keylogger can be used for many purposes, such as recording computer
activities. Today, let’s talk about various brands of keylogger software for Mac.
Generally, a keylogger is able to record all keystroke typed on the computer, including chat
conversations, websites visited, including URL, screenshot and application launched on the Mac. I
have tested 4 types of keyloggers for Mac on Mac 10.6.3; they are Aobo Keylogger for Mac, Amac
Keylogger for Mac, Anykeylogger for Mac, Refog Mac Keylogger. Now I will show the features and
shortcomings of these four programs.
1. Aobo Keylogger for Mac
Aobo Keylogger for Mac is the only one program that uses setting window as main interface.
Maybe the developer of Aobo Keylogger thinks setting in advance is more important. As the
picture you can see below, you must click on the “View the Log” button if you want to view logs.
In my opinion, place the log view button to the top of the main interface as a tab will be more
convenient for consumer experience. During the test, all functions work well except screenshot. I
have preset screenshot settings, such as capture internal, while the program fails to snap screen.
I tested the trial version; I hope the full version do well on this function.
Apart from the screenshot, the log viewer of Aobo Keylogger for Mac is different from that of
other programs. You must choose items and user accounts you want to view by clicking the
drop-down box on the bottom of the log viewer, which is also not convenient compared with
other log viewer framework. But, this program subdivides the chatting record based on different
IM tools, which is an advantage of consumer experience. What’s more, it allows us to send logs
to address or system via email or FTP. You must remember to clear the logs periodically, because
the log has a character limit and it will stop logging without any warning and affecting
performance. Aobo Keylogger for Mac has standard and professional versions, the former of
which don’t require system admin password but can’t record passwords, the latter one need
admin password and is able to track typed passwords.
2. Amac Keylogger for Mac
Look at the picture below, it’s the main interface of Amac Keylogger for Mac. It’s pretty good that
Amac Keylogger subdivides the websites and chat logs. This software can do almost all what a
keylogger for Mac is supposed to do. It works well to record keystrokes, websites and chat logs,
while its screenshot function was out of work like Aobo Keylogger for Mac when I tested it. Amac
Keylogger for Mac is able to send logs via FTP as well as email which is a feature that
Anykeylogger for Mac and Refog Mac Keylogger don’t have. It has standard and professional
version as well, and the only the professional version that needs admin password is able to
3. Anykeylogger for Mac
Anykeylogger for Mac has the simplest main interface, for it doesn’t subdivide the websites logs
or text logs, which may be an advantage for some people, but a disadvantage for other people.
Apart from the difference of the subdivision, the features of it are mainly same as other
keyloggers. I have tested every function of it, and it works well. In addition, it has the smallest
size among these four programs, that I download and install it in a lot less time. Anykeylogger for
Mac is able to record all keystrokes, websites, applications and screenshot, and send logs via
Anykeylogger for Mac is just like professional version of Amac Keylogger for Mac or Aobo
Keylogger for Mac, it needs admin password to install to record passwords.
4. Refog Keylogger for Mac
Refog Keylogger for Mac has a function that other keyloggers don’t have—recording bookmarks.
Except that, it has the same functions as Anykyelogger for Mac. Compared with the main
interface of Anykeylogger for Mac, it set chat records as an independent item on navigation. Just
like Anykeylogger for Mac, it can also send logs via email but not via FTP.
From the test, we can see that all these four keyloggers have similar functions, and the main
difference of them is that some subdivide the logs, but some not. With regard to stability of trial
version, I think Refog and Anykeylogger are better than the former two, since their screenshot
functions work well all the way.
Because keyloggers run in secret mode, which means you need to use hotkey to activate it if you
want to view the logs on the monitored Mac. All these four keyloggers allow users to reset the
hotkey, while the Refog can only change hotkey in prescribed keys. And only Anykeylogger shows
a prompt box to remind me of remembering the hotkey, which is a user-friendly design for
Besides, in all these four keyloggers’ main interfaces, there’s only Anykeylogger has uninstall
function in setting window. I just want to know how to delete other three keyloggers if I don’t
know where they are installed?
In one word, if you want a program with simple interface and comprehensive functions, you can
choose Anykeylogger or Refog; if you need a program with subdivided logs, you can use Amac or
Aobo. However, Anykeylogger for Mac compares to other keyloggers in the industry in both
quality and price, especially in price; as far as the good service is concerned, the price of
Anykeylogger is reasonable. Therefore, you can purchase Anykeylogger if you need a
