  2. 2. Lesson 1 <ul><li>Lesson Objectives: </li></ul><ul><li>To recall the Fundamental Dance Positions of the arms and the feet; and </li></ul><ul><li>To perform the Fundamental Dance Positions of the arms and the feet in dancing Foreign Folk Dances. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>There are five fundamental or basic positions in dance that are commonly termed as positions of the arms and the feet. </li></ul>1st Position 2nd Position 3rd Position 4th Position 5th Position Lesson 1
  4. 4. 1 st Position <ul><li>Arms : Both raised forward in a circle in front of chest with the finger tips about an inch apart. </li></ul><ul><li>Feet: Heel close together; toes apart with and angle of about 45 degrees. </li></ul>Introduction
  5. 5. 2 nd Position <ul><li>Arms: Both raised sideward with a graceful curve at shoulder level. </li></ul><ul><li>Feet: Astride sideward about a pace or 1 foot distance.  </li></ul>Introduction
  6. 6. 3 rd Position <ul><li>Arms: One arm raised sideward as in 2 nd position; other arm raised upward. </li></ul><ul><li>Feet: Heel of one foot close to in-step of other foot. </li></ul>Introduction
  7. 7. 4 th Position <ul><li>Arms: One arm raised in front as in 1 st position; other arm raised overhead.  </li></ul><ul><li>Feet: One in front of other foot of a pace distance. </li></ul>Introduction
