Enjoyed watching the presentation, but I agree with others about the nature of the kerning and the cliche Microsoft/Apple metaphor.

I don't think this accurately represents YOUR perspective on design- or what the original motive for the content was.

If you are interested in design as it relates to less tangible entities like businesses and processes go to www.stankirkwood.com or www.businessdesignconcepts.com and read more. The idea of Form follows Function is equally true in that world. Same design principles.

I design businesses for a living. I refer to myself as being a business designer or business architect. My role is exactly the same as the person you would go to if you wanted to build a house or an office facility. You would have goals you want to achieve through your design. Using a house for the analogy you would have a price range, square footage, one or two story, number of bedrooms, traffic flow, open or closed floor plan,.... All of those are requirements and constraints to the design of the house. Any design that does not accommodate your requirements would not be acceptable. If you can not achieve your goals with the contraints you have placed upon the architect then either the design has to be changed or the requirements (goals) have to be modified.
