SPECIMEN/CONTAINER LABORATORY PROCEDURE SCHEDULE OF EXAMINATION RELEASING OF RESULTS PATIENT PREPARATIONCLINICAL MICROSCOPY SECTIONUrine analysis Fresh random or early morning urine, 5 – 10 cc in sterile bottle 1. Patient shall observe the following in collection of the specimen: First urine in the morning or at random Midstream of the urine shall be collected Freshly collected urine shall be immediately submitted. Daily After 1 hour 2. Prior to collection, patient must thoroughly clean genitalia with soap and water. 3. If the specimen collected outside the hospital, the urine specimen shall be submitted to the Laboratory within 1 hour. 4. Sample must not be contaminated with water, chemical, disinfectants, soap or other contaminants.Urine analysis for RBC morphology - First morning or randomly collected urine sample in sterile bottle ( 10 – 30 mL) Daily After 1 hour - Should be submitted within 1 hour.Micral Test / Microalbumin - Patient is instructed to collect first urine in the morning at random or in 24 hours as per doctor’s request. Daily After 1 hour - Should be placed in sterile container. - Should be submitted within one hour. -Stool exam - Fresh random stool in sterile bottle, approximately pea size 1. Should be submitted to the Laboratory within 1 hour from collection. Daily After 1 hour 2. Should not be contaminated with urine, water, oils or enemas of any type and other chemical contaminants.

Vitamin C supplements for 2 days prior to and during the test. 3. Other medications which may cause gastrointestinal bleeding. Avoid eating the following food for 72 hours prior to the test: 1. Rare of light cooked meat, blood and internal organs. 2. Fruits or vegetables with high peroxidase activity such as cucumber, broccoli, cauliflower, turnip, cantaloupe, red radish, beans sprout and mushroom. The container to be used shall be a Daily After 2 hours protein wide-mouthed, capped, clean collection glass or any sterile urine container approximate for 24 hours collection. 2. On day 1, at 7am, the patient shall void and discard the first urine. All succeeding urine samples shall be collected in 24 hours. 3. On day 2, at 7am, the patient shall void and add the urine to the total urine sample collected. 4. During the collection, the container with the urine sample collected shall be refrigerated. L.E Preparation - Whole blood, 10 ml / 2 Clean Test Daily After 28 hours tubes Blood Smear for Malarial - Whole blood, 3 cc (Lavander top) and Daily After 4 hours( if negative ) Parasite (BSMP) thick and thin smear on glass slides If positive, subject for (preferably at the height of fever) revalidation of the result Peripheral Blood Smear - Whole blood, 3 cc /Lavander top and Daily After 3 days smear stained by Heamaquick stain
