    • The Horizon Report is an annual compilation of technologies for education
    • To test the ideas for success you must identify the spread and attention of the public
  • 4. The test
    • Using web 2.0 applications and search engines to get hits
    • Hits include tags, blogs, wikis, websites, slideshows and other online content that refers to or links to the 2007 Horizon Report
    • Limiting factors include minimizing content by New Media Consortium, Educause Technology Initiative, and advisory board members
  • 5. What we are looking for
    • To see the spread and acceptance of the report find out uses of it
    • Who is using the report?
    • How it is being used?
    • What is it being used for?
  • 6. What was found
    • Most of the hits from all of the search ended up being education related
    • Most popular was blogs and wikis as well as tags
    • Many either just linked the report or used it to validate their belief or rant for blogs or wikis
  • 7. What it was used for
    • Tagging is participating in social networking
    • Blog and wiki content the report was used to validate information or to build strong support
    • It was also used to inform and prepare individuals as well as groups
  • 8. Education and Business
    • A majority of the hits were education related due to the fact that the report is geared for education
    • There were some business related hits
  • 9. Content of hits
    • Blogs and wikis found included different types of content
    • Primarily content was impressively about virtual worlds and massive multiplayer educational games
    • Many advocates were impressed with those two ideas making the list
    • The other content was just general education about the report and what it contained
  • 10. Interesting Content
    • Business hits showed some connection with education
    • The National Association of College Stores found the report useful to predict and prepare for the future of their business in relation to education
    • Institutional IT divisions use it to prepare for the future of education
    • Education E-News mentions summarizes the report
